Day 2

I know now what it feels like to be jet lagged and... it sucks. I would like to write about all of the amazing things I am going to do today, but I'll be lucky if I can make it til tonight without passing out from exhaustion.

Yesterday I went to the Green Park market, a walking mall nearby, where I bought some clothes and some snacks. I felt a pretty big rush from being out and about by myself in this country which I truly have such a little grasp of. Sensory overload is the only way I can describe it, it's hard to even walk around without getting in someone's way, let alone record/take pictures at the same time! I'm hoping that I get a little more used to it over the next few days.

It was a pretty easy trip, with only a mild freak out when my phone lost service and I couldn't call an Uber Auto back to my apartment (I found a Starbucks nearby, so I survived). Uber Auto's are rickshaws that can transport you to any number of places in Delhi, for a fraction of the cost in the states. My 10-minute Uber Auto was 49 Indian Rupees, which comes out to about 70 cents. They are hot and slightly terrifying to ride in, but very cost-effective. Traffic laws don't seem to really exist here? Red lights are suggestions and lanes are nothing more than lines on the road. This is likely a factor in the high number of road traffic deaths that occur in India.

Later in the day, the other students I am staying with and myself went out to a nice restaurant called Social which is within walking distance of our apartment. I had Lamb Massaman Curry, which was so good that I almost wrote a yelp review, but I decided to withhold until I've tried a few more places (I need some relative experiences to compare). I also discovered Kingfisher, a type of bird and beer, which comes in a bottle and has a pull-tab that I am absolutely fascinated by. Also Budweiser is a popular beer here and makes bottled water? I swear, look:

I start working at the WASH Institute on Monday and I am so excited to finally meet everyone in person. I have no idea what time I am supposed to show up, so wish me luck! I'll start using my GoPro soon, I promise :-).
