I made it...

So I have arrived in India, very late last night after some confusion at the airport. It took me about 22 hours of total travel time, from Tampa to Zurich to Delhi (the trip was 1.5 hours longer than expected due to a reroute around Pakistani airspace). I never realized that travel could take this long? The other side of the world is not a hop and a skip away. Nevertheless I have arrived and I am ready to move forward, although we've met a very small amount of people that speak English and for the time being my residence is a couch. The coolest thing that I've seen so far were the Swiss Alps, which run along the Switzerland/Italy border and I was lucky enough to snap a pic of during the TPA/ZRH flight! It was dark when I got to New Delhi, otherwise I would have been looking for the Himalayas. Today I plan on purchasing some clothes, bottles of water, and whatever else I think I'll need on the short term. I should be in New Delhi for about 1.5 - 2 weeks, I'll ...

Hey Everyone! I am so excited to be leaving for India today and I couldn't stress more how thankful I am for everyone that has been so key in my success. I wouldn't be here without support from my family, my professors, my friends, and my coworkers. In case you missed it: this summer I'll be working with the WASH Institute, beginning in New Delhi and then moving across India to cities in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The WASH Institute is a non-profit which is funded by organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to provide technical assistance to India's Ministry of Housing . Access to water and sanitation services is a huge problem across India and I'll be working to improve that through policy writing, work with grassroots organizations, and creation of new models for water, sanitation, and hygiene.
